Crimson Bound Review

Image
Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge Meh. Good writing; I was ist really bored. It was like a bad version of an SJM novel. That's all.

Pride and Prejudice Review

Image
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen 3.5/5 stars. This isn't as good as Jane Eyre or Wuthering Heights, but still a lovely story! I only knew to follow on because I've seen half of the miniseries. Without it, I think I may have been extremely lost while trying to follow the story.

Passenger (Passenger #1) Review

Image
Passenger (Passenger #1) by Alexandra Bracken   WOWOWOW! This book was AMAZING! It was so interesting with such sassy characters, it was really enjoyable to read (yay!). I really hope there's a sequel??? This couple is adorable. Overall, it's just a bunch of fluff. But I like it. It has hot pirates, time travelling and a sizzling (but still Teen rated) romance involved. I am also a history buff so this journey was really cool to read about too. BLESS THIS BOOK!!! Such a great book. Would I read it again? Probably not. It's one of those books you wish you could forget bc so much happens that's a plot twist, but I know all of it now :/ maybe I'll have to wait a year to be surprised again :)

Isla and the Happily Ever After (Anna and the French Kiss #3) Review

Image
Isla and the Happily Ever After (Anna and the French Kiss #3) by Stephanie Perkins 5/5 stars. IM DEAAAAAD. I CANT BELIEVE THIS IS THIS LAST ONE. I WANT MORE. Okay so I honestly thought the other 2 sequels wouldn't match up to the romance of Anna and St Clair. And I was right. For Lola and Cricket (they weren't nearly as interesting or passionate). But I was also wrong. For Josh and Isla. Bc they, my ladies and gents, were actually THE BEST COUPLE of all 3 books. Maybe it's because the way Isla has a crush is identical to my own. In every thought process and emotional reaction, we are uncanny. (Ps I don't like her younger sister, Hattie). Maybe it's because Josh is probably the most attractive of the 3 male leads. Maybe it's because I just spend 6 weeks in NYC and have fallen deeply for the city this romance partially takes place. This book is way less (but still) angsty than Anna and the French Kiss. It was sunshine and rainbows until Josh sent his care packag

Lolita Review

Image
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov Of course this is a sick concept. But I love the complexity nonetheless. It is written so beautifully. From beginning to end, I never once read a sentence that I thought was worth less than the 5/5 star rating I've given the novel. You can easily take either side for this novel: H.H. was a gross, pedophilic man, or Lo was responsible for H.H.'S obsession. I choose both. I will never say that it's Lolita'a fault that any of this happened-- she was 12 and deranged (from the sounds of it). But she was looking to cause trouble. She was just caught in the worst case scenario of repercussions. You can read the guilt from H.H. throughout the entire novel, which proves he knew he did wrong, but had enough 'love' to carry through. I love the format of him addressing the readers. I cannot describe how well this adds to the book. I do believe this is a love tragedy. I have my reasons. Some choose to dismiss them, because they'

Jane Eyre Review

Image
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë THIS BOOK IS SO GOOD I CANT EVEN FATHOM HOW TO WRITE IT IN A REVIEW!!! Sure, it's """"""old"""""" English, but hey-- if young Cal, who clearly needed glasses and had a short attention span, can understand it and thoroughly invest herself into it; then anybody can!!! From page 200, the whole book does a what the f*ck and turns so dramatic and fanfictiony, I LOVE IT. If you can make it to the 200th page, I surely recommend it. One of my all time favourite romances <3

Vanishing Girls Review

Image
Vanishing Girls by Lauren Oliver This book was boring, I was falling asleep the entire time. It had so much potential as a great thriller, but the characters and set up was one of the shittiest organisations I've ever read. Including high school creative writing pieces. My friend has given this book to me, TWO times in a row on my bday, so if you want a copy, feel free to ask. Dara was fucked up to the max. Nick was such a weak girl, whom I do NOT admire. The girls were so superficial and obnoxious, I couldn't stand it.

A Diamond Guitar by   Truman Capote All I can think is: "okay…… so?" Way too short for me to get attached, sorry.

Breakfast at Tiffany's Review

Image
Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote That was BEAUTIFUL!!! I remember hating the movie so much, and I can see it's nothing like the book! This had a lot more of a meaning behind it, rather than in the book it's very superficial. Of course, this is still Breakfast at Tiffany's, and it still holds notions of superficiality (but more to it). Holly was an extremely complex character that I would have loved to read more on. Sadly, it's only 100 pages. I would gladly read this again :)

Wuthering Heights Review

Image
Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë This was so beautiful!!!!! So romantic, it touched my soul! I tried to read this a few years ago but wasn't getting into it. I'm glad I saved it for when I'm older, I think I value it a lot more! So so so so so beautiful, I will definitely read it again :)

Selection Novella Reviews

Image
All by Kiera Cass. As much as I hate Maxon's parents, this was very cute! The Prince was certainly longer than The Guard, but tbh I find Maxon a total fuck boy so I wasn't falling for any of his romanticised events. Nothing was revealed that I didn't already expect, I prefer The Prince a lot more. Aspen is incredibly sweet, I wish boys like him really existed.

Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy #6) Review

Image
Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy #6) by Richelle Mead 4/5 stars. THIS IS THE PERFECT ENDING OMG. I read through it in 1 sitting, I couldn't put it down! I'm so sad that it's ended, so maybe I'll give Bloodlines a go? Because I love Sydney. And I heard Adrian is in them? and Adrian was my fave stand alone character throughout the entire series. MY HEART BURST A MILLION TIMES WHILE READING THIS ENDING. 1. Rose and Dimitri. Um. Yes. I didn't think I could care so much, but I'm obsessed. Their ending was one of the best I've ever read that isn't a cliche HEA. 2. Lissa and Christian are always my #1 OTP in this series, and I was glad to see them act like such a married couple again, and reunited, in this ending of the series. Favourite moments: "'I don't belong to anyone. I make my own choices.' 'And you're with Adrian, said Dimitri.' 'But I was meant for you.'" WOW WOW WOW "I'd fulfilled my purpose, right? T

A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses #2) Review

Image
A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses #2) by Sarah J. Maas   5/5 stars!!!!!! I read this on the plane, about 26 hours ago. Forgive me if I've forgotten stuff, I'm overly jet lagged but felt the need to review ASAP. I wanted to be really critical of this book bc it beat my fave of 2016 (and of all time): Lady Midnight. My baby. My love. I'm gonna say it, for me, Lady Midnight still beats this series. Why? It has more depth. Don't get me wrong, I'm an ADDICT when it comes to weird mating stories on FanFiction. But this isn't FanFiction. This is a seriously published novel that's made it to the big leagues, from a prestigious author. I LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH AND IT'S SO MUCH BETTER THAN BORING TOG. Main reasons why I love this series; - easy to follow, unlike ToG - hot sexy times that aren't the bad kind of creepy. Creepy like Delena chemistry from TVD. Mmmm SJM wrote some excellent sexy times. It was majorly awkward to read on the p

P.S. I Still Love You (To All the Boys I've Loved Before #2) by Jenny Han

Image
P.S. I Still Love You (To All the Boys I've Loved Before #2) by Jenny Han   4/5 stars. I loved this book!! I wasn't liking the break up/s, but it was essential for her maturity. I mentioned in the last one how much I disliked her immaturity. Peter was even cuter than before. I found it funny how this book, Jenny obviously tried to make it more believable that the story is set in the present. such as: - rip off Gossip Girl aka Anonybitch (couldn't stop laughing) - Instagram - Sex/nude scandals Plus many more I need more!!!!! I felt like this book was way too short... :(

Shatter Me (Shatter Me #1) Review

Image
Shatter Me (Shatter Me #1) by Tahereh Mafi 4/5 stars. I once knew somebody who LOATHED this book. LOATHED. BUT WHY??????? This book was aaaamaaazing!!!! I'm sure if you've just had a binge read of Divergent, THG, Delirium, and the Uglies, you'd be pretty damn sick of it, but I haven't read a dystopian romance in so long, it made me feel nostalgic! This was brilliantly written, made complete sense, and had such important concepts. "'I don't want you to touch me,' I lie. 'You don't have a choice.' He won't look at me. 'I always have a choice.'" THIS IS SO IMPORTANT I CAN'T EMPHASISE THIS ENOUGH. Seriously, read this book if you feel like you want to be immersed in your 2013 self, surrounded by the hype of YA dystopia. It was such a nice embrace. Now back to my fantasy novels…
